La Romana is one of the 32 provinces of the Dominican Republic. It is located 112 km from the capital, Santo Domingo, is located between the provinces of La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, El Seibo and Hato Mayor and to the south are Catalina Island and the Caribbean Sea.
A large number of tourists visit the city briefly thanks to the Caribbean cruise ships that dock at the Marina de Casa de Campo Pier, located in the city of La Romana, which can last from hours to days in the city as a visit.
In La Romana there is a strong tourist activity, especially on Saona Island. It is followed in importance by the city of La Romana, Altos de Chavón, Catalina Island, the Casa de Campo resort, the Puerto de La Romana and the La Romana International Airport.
In this province there is also Altos de Chavón, a small town is nothing more or less than an imitation of a Spanish or Italian Mediterranean town of houses built in limestone. It is a refuge for many international artists and from the town there are fantastic views of the Chavón river. The small town of Altos de Chavón has several restaurants, a church where famous people have married, luxury boutiques, a Regional Archaeological Museum with a large collection of Taíno objects.
